School Milk Scheme

From February 2015, in conjunction with the Department of Education’s new School Food Plan our school will be providing a milk scheme which will be available to all of our pupils. The scheme will be run by “Cool Milk” and we would like to invite you to register your child. The cost of school milk is subsidised for pupils aged five or older at a cost of 22p per day.

Each pupil that registers with Cool Milk will receive a 189ml portion of semi-skimmed milk every day, which is delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom. Find out what the top ten reasons are for drinking school milk at www.coolmilk.com/whyschoolmilk

How to register;

  • Simply register at www.coolmilk.com or complete the registration form and post directly to FREEPOST COOL MILK.
  • When registering on line you are then able to make an immediate payment for your child. Alternatively, you will receive a payment request within 48 hours after registering.
  • You can pay Cool Milk either online, over the phone, at a local PayPoint or by cheque in half-termly, termly or annual instalments.
  • Please pay by Tuesday 5pm for your child’s milk to start the following week.

Arts Week – Chinese New Year

During the week commencing 2nd February the children will be working with Wendy Reeves – a local artist – undertaking art projects linked to Chinese New Year.  A list of the activities is outlined below.  If you, or another family member, would like to work alongside your child for some of the activity you are invited to do so for an hour on their allotted day from 9:30am – 10:30am.  Please could you ensure that all children have an old top / shirt with them for the activities, as some of the materials used have the potential to damage clothing.  Please do not bring siblings / younger children, as space will be at a premium.

Class Assemblies

Class assemblies proved very popular last year, with all classes getting great support from parents, grand-parents and other family members. The assemblies are a brief opportunity for the children to share the work they have been doing during the term.  A list of this term’s class assembly dates are shown below (The children will bring home an invitation nearer the time).  All assemblies begin as soon as the children are in and registered at the start of the day.  Please come through the main entrance if you are able to join us.

Tuesday 27th January – Lobsters, Miss Farr

Thursday 12th February – Sea Lions, Miss Thain

Thursday 26th February – Swordfish, Mrs Abbott

Tuesday 3rd March – Jellyfish, Miss Treadgold

Thursday 5th March – Barracudas, Miss Reed

Tuesday 10th March – Starfish, Mrs Chapman/Mrs Hollamby

Wednesday 11th March – Sea Horses, Miss Blanchard

Thursday 12th March – Turtles, Mrs Barrett

Tuesday 17th March – Seals, Miss Thompson

Thursday 19th March – Sharks, Miss Gibson

Tuesday 24th March – Dolphins, Mr Scott

Thursday 26th March – Manta Rays, Mr Funnell

I realise that, for childcare reasons, it is sometimes necessary for younger siblings to come to the assemblies. Could I ask that, to avoid disrupting the assembly, if they become unsettled they are taken into one of the wings / corridor.
