Young Reporter Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for children aged 8-11 who live in North East Lincolnshire this summer holidays. The opportunity is for the children to attend a workshop on Wednesday 29th July 2015 9.30am-3.30pm at Grimsby Central Library where they will take part in activities to help them write a short article for the Grimsby Telegraph.  This is part of the Award winning Young Reporters scheme and the children will be supported by young people who have already been Young Reporters and had their writing published in the newspaper as well as staff from North East Lincolnshire Council.  This workshop follows a successful pilot in Grimsby Central Library during February Half term.

Places are limited and will need to be booked in advance of the day.  We expect that the places will get booked up quickly so calling early will avoid disappointment.  We will be taking a waiting list in case places become available.  The cost is £5 for the whole day and this includes refreshments (packed lunch is required) as well as a pack with related ‘goodies’ for the children to keep in addition to their article being sent to the Grimsby Telegraph printing the articles.  If you would like to see some of the articles already done by Young and Younger Reporters please go to www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/youngreporters

Bookings will be open until 17th July 2015 from 9am-5pm each day.  To book please call Pippa on 01472 323298 / 07584 150229.

Kind Regards

Local Police Notice

Please read below for information form our local Police Officer:

“There is a recent series of garage and shed burglaries occurring in the locality overnight, whereby entry has been gained (often forced) to outbuildings and bikes stolen.  So far sheds and garages have been targeted in Lindum Road, Signhills Avenue and Bolingbroke Road overnight on the 1st July.

It would serve as a timely reminder to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity via the 101 number and indeed to ensure that robust security measures are in place to help deter the opportunist criminal.

Many thanks for your kind assistance with this as always.”

Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection

We would just like to remind parents that the Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection here at Signhills will be collected on Monday 6th July. If you wish to donate anything please send it in before then.

We would also like to thank all of the children and their parents for the donations we have had so far!
