Football/Netball afterschool clubs

Dear Parents/Carers,

Due to the dark night’s drawing in, the Netball Club on a Tuesday and the School Team Football Club on a Wednesday will now end for the winter until the Spring Term. There may still be match fixtures, where teams will be chosen and informed accordingly.

Thank you,

Miss Farr

Shoebox Appeal 2015

Leaflets for this year’s Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal have now gone out. If you wish to get involved, please send your finished shoebox into school by Wednesday 18th November.

If you would like more information on how to make your shoeboxes or what they are about, you can visit the Samaritan’s Purse website here.

Poppy Appeal

After Half Term (from Tuesday 3rd November) we will be selling Poppies in school with all proceeds going to the British Legion Poppy Appeal. There will be opportunities for the children to purchase a poppy for a small donation, along with bracelets, keyrings, rulers and crayons for children to also buy for a 50p or £1 at the Book Fair (Wednesday 4th November-Monday 9th November).

Book Fair

We are excited for the return of the Book Fair on Wednesday 4th November, which will be in school until Tuesday 10th November.

Each class will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair during school time. Additionally, the Book Fair will be open after school until 4pm.

The Book fair will be held in the Ocean Room which can be accessed directly from the playground.

We hope to see you there.

CARETAKER

PART TIME, PERMANENT (9 DECEMBER 2015 OR ASAP AFTER THIS DATE)
27.5 HOURS PER WEEK, 52 WEEKS
NJC POINT 24 (circa £16,000)

Following the retirement of the Site Custodian, an opportunity has arisen for a caretaker to join our friendly, hardworking and committed team at Signhills Infant Academy. The successful applicant will have the ability to work on their own initiative, be able to multi-task and have a professional attitude to work. They will be reliable, trustworthy and able to prioritise and take the initiative, with good DIY skills. The role is vital in ensuring the academy provides a safe and secure environment for our children, of which we can all be proud.
The academy estate includes the school building, playground and outdoor learning spaces.
Duties will include the opening and closing of school, general site maintenance and handyman duties, security of the school and site, health and safety, managing and supervising cleaning staff, liaising with contractors and cleaning duties as necessary.
The Academy is committed to the continued development of the Staff Team and, as such, initial and ongoing training opportunities will be identified to support the post holder in developing their skills and knowledge.
As the academy shares the site with Signhills (Junior) Academy, the role will require the post holder to work collaboratively with their caretaker where it is in the best interests of the academies, for example when hiring specialist equipment or arranging contractor service visits.

Closing date for applications is 10:00am on 15th October 2015.
Interviews will take place on 21 October 2015.
The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Only Academy application forms may be used, these are available from the office or can be downloaded from the school’s website: http://www.signhillsinfants.co.uk

For an informal discussion, or to make arrangements to visit the school, please contact the Headteacher on 694993 or email headteacher@signhillsinfants.co.uk to make an appointment.

Signhills Infant Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects the same commitment from all staff and volunteers.
