As you are aware, the expectations presented within the 2014 Curriculum have been increased. Children are now required to be able to identify and apply the technical features of spelling, punctuation and grammar both within their writing and in test situations.
Homework is designed to extend the work that the children have completed in their classrooms, deepen their understanding, and reinforce areas where they may struggle, or may need some extra practise. To provide parents with support in helping their children complete their homework, we are offering two parent workshops which we invite you to attend.
Grammar and Punctuation Workshop – Tuesday 15th November – 6.00pm
This will focus on word classes, sentence types and punctuation marks. There will be a short explanation about each of these concepts and then the opportunity for you to have a go!
Numeracy Workshop – Tuesday 29th November – 6.00pm
This will concentrate on the formal written methods used for: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions.
As the workshops are open to Year 5 and Year 6 parents, all teachers of these year groups will be available on these evenings to answer any questions which you may have. The workshops are intended for parents only.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing many of you at the workshops.
