The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

The Royal British Legion have released merchandise for school children to raise money for this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners and reflectors all 50p each.

Rulers are £1 each.

These will be on sale on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at playtime from Silver Class.

Poppies will be on sale as normal from the playground each morning.

Music Workshop

On Wednesday, some Year 4 and 5 pupils took part in an exciting music workshop with a UK based Afro-Jazz band called ‘Ubunye’.

The workshop saw the children working with four members of the band to develop singing skills.
The activity was part of a wider regional music project called Alt Shift J, which is supported by Arts Council England with the aim of engaging more young people in music making and performance.

Ubunye means ‘one-ness’ and the full band unites singers from South Africa with gospel and R’n’B players from Yorkshire to present an inspirational blend of jazz, traditional Zulu music and ‘Afro-pop’.
