Whilst the current weather is giving me no confidence that any of these events will actually take place, I am going to optimistically share some summer dates with you! As usual, the summer term is somewhat busy and includes events such as open afternoon, the summer fair and sports day. Details for these can be found below.
To support in preparations for the Summer Fair, we are having a non-uniform day on Friday 7th June. Children are welcome to wear their own clothes in return for a donation of a bag of sweets or packet of biscuits (no chocolate please).
Summer Fair Programme of Events
This year’s Summer Fair will take place on Friday 14th June. The timings are shown below.
2.00pm Children allowed onto the playground/field to visit the fair.
2.00pm-3.15pm Children may leave with an adult when they have finished.
3.15pm School closes at normal time-unaccompanied children may leave.
3.45pm Fair closes.
Parents are invited to join their children, who will be on the playground/ field from 2.00pm to enjoy the festivities. Please note that there will be NO ACCESS through the Chichester road gate at 2.00pm for security reasons. Please use the gate on Hardy’s Road (opposite Pearson Road) onto the playground. The Chichester Road gate will be opened at 3.10pm. If you are meeting your child, it may help to arrange a location and time with them eg. The gate, ‘punch balloons’, ’crazy sand’ etc. as they will not be held back in their classrooms. Charges for activities are either £1 or 50p.
Lucky Bags will be coming home prior to the event. If you would like to make one, please fill it with sweets and / or small inexpensive gifts such as: pencils, hair bobbles etc. We would also appreciate any donations for the ‘Water to Wine’ stall. Thank you in advance for your support.
Sports Day will (hopefully) take place on the afternoon of Friday 21st June. As in previous years, the event will start at 1:15pm and is intended to be finished by 3:15pm. Parents, friends and relatives are invited to come and join us for the sports and follow their child’s ‘country’ around the various events.
On the morning of Thursday 4th July the children will visit their new classes. We will also be inviting children from year 2 who are transferring over for the morning.
On the afternoon of Friday 5th July we are going to complete a whole-school sponsored walk. The children will be invited to gain sponsorship for the event nearer the time.
Open afternoon will take place on Friday 12th July from 2.15 pm. Here you will have the opportunity to visit your child in their classroom to look at the work they have produced this year. Following this, you can take your child home if you wish to do so. On this afternoon, your child’s class teacher will be available to discuss their school report informally. This will be sent home with your child in an envelope prior to the 12th July. If you would like a more detailed conversation in private, please make arrangements via the school office.
