This price includes an overnight stay at the Youth Hostel in York as well as a meal on the Monday evening, breakfast and lunch on the Tuesday and visits to the Chocolate Story, York Minster and the Jorvik Centre.

If you wish your child to take part in this trip, please sign the slip and return it with the deposit of £20.00 by Friday 8th November. We recommend that payments are made using the Academy’s online payment system and we also ask parents not to book a meal with Chartwells for the two days of the trip.

Whilst it is up to parents to decide whether to pay in regular instalments or in lump sums, we ask that the following periodic balances are met:

Initial payment balance £20 Friday 8th November 2019
Interim payment balance £66 Friday 24th January 2020
Final payment balance £86 Friday 28th February 2020

There will be a parents’ meeting giving more details about the trip at 6.00pm on Tuesday 8th October.

The charge for board and lodging of £61.21 is compulsory but by law, the payment for the remainder of the residential trip must take the form of voluntary contributions. However, should these not cover the cost of the trip, then the trip will not be able to take place.

Dates Letter

I hope you have all had a great summer and are now back into the swing of the school routine. The children certainly seem to have had a busy time. Below are some notices relating to the start of the year. We will continue to use the online news posts and playground notice boards to share information and news; I would urge you all to use these to stay up to date. The Signhills News site can be found at signhillsblog.wordpress .com (there is also a link on the school website) and you can ‘follow’ the site to have updates automatically sent to an email address or, if you are a Twitter user, you can follow us at @signhillsblog. We will also continue to use paper letters and texts as appropriate.

Start of the Day
A number of children have been arriving at school very early. Please remember that, whilst the gates are open, the children are not supervised by the staff team until 8:45am when the doors are opened for the start of the day. If your child needs to leave the house considerably earlier than that, we operate a Breakfast Club – in the New Hall – from 7.45am every morning. This can be accessed as-and-when, with no need to pre-book. For children arriving between 7.45am and 8.15am the cost is £1.50 per day. For those arriving after 8.15am the cost is £1.

Jeans for Genes – Friday 20th September
Please let your children wear their jeans to school with their uniform top to raise money and awareness for the thousands of children living with genetic disorders. Please send a £1 donation. More information can be found at jeansforgenes.org.

Free School Meals & the Pupil Premium
If you are in receipt of a qualifying benefit, your child will be eligible for free school meals and additional funding to support their learning. You will also benefit from financial help with residential trips. PGL Final Day

The final morning involved learning some survival skills with one last bit of climbing. A bit of rain didn’t dampen year 6’s spirits and the dens turned out to be quite useful.

PGL Day 3

Teamwork was the key for year 6 today as they experienced Jacob’s ladder, problem solving and the challenge course with some abseiling thrown in as well.
