Our little star in year 5. You may have seen Aimee’s story in the telegraph last week. It reported how brave she was when her dad collapsed in the school holidays and she looked after him until an ambulance arrived. Aimee was presented with an award in assembly today to recognise her courage.
Year 5 have braved the weather and taken part in Tag Rugby Tournament.
We are well on with our arrangements for our Year 5 trip to YHA National Forest where the children will visit Twycross Zoo, Conkers and The National Space Centre in Leicester.
For this visit the children will be divided into two groups;
• Group 1 will go on Monday 18th May to Wednesday 20th May 2020
• Group 2 will go on Monday 15th June to Wednesday 17th June 2020
Both groups will follow an identical programme of activities and will spend equal time on the residential. The school will allocate the children to their group.
The total cost of the visit is £130 which includes a compulsory charge of £70 for board and lodgings. All activities, transport, meals and accommodation are included in this cost.
If you would like your child to be allocated a place on the 2020 Year 5 residential, then please sign the slip attached and return it to school with a deposit of £20.00 before Wednesday 6th November. After this date, children may not be able to sign up.
We will send a text out to parents on Friday 8th November to notify you that your child has been allocated a place on the trip. If you do not receive a text on this date, and you wish your child to attend, then please contact the school office as a matter of urgency. Once pupils have been allocated a place on the residential, it is up to parents to decide whether to pay in regular instalments or in lump sums. We just ask that payments are made by the dates below:
Deposit £20.00 Wednesday 6th November 2019
Initial payment £50.00 Wednesday 11th December 2019
Interim payment £30.00 Wednesday 5th February 2020
Final payment £30.00 Wednesday 25th March 2020
We request that payments are made using the Academy’s online payment system. However, payments can also be made at the school office. If your child has a meal provided by Chartwells, please remember to cancel their meals for the days they are on the trip as you will still be charged for them.
If you decide to withdraw your child’s participation on the visit for any reason, you may not receive a full refund due to non-refundable costs by YHA.
By law, payment for the residential trip (other than for board and lodgings) must take the form of voluntary contributions but should these not cover the cost of the trip, then it will not be able to take place.
